Today I shaved with the Tempo SE-razor, a 1930's German SE taking DE blades of which you can then use one side. Maker is unknown to me. The head originally was plated, but that has gone on mine. Grips were in several colors, the reddish brown on mine fits in nicely with the brass of the no-longer plated head. The head pivots on the grip and can be used in three positions: like an ordinary razor, or tilted to the left or right. There is no difference in the left or right psitions, other than left or right. Pivoted 90° the topcap can open and a blade can be placed or removed. Mine does not really clamp down the blade which I solved by inserting a piece of cardboard, and then I had a bit of a curved blade left, as you can see in the pictures. The razor is built so, that you keep the grip parallel to the face for optimum shaving angle. This is also the position in which the razor makes the most noise. I love noisy razors Much to my surprise, this razor shaves really good. Smooth, easy, not aggressive at all, it only had some problems going ATG on my throat, which is my ATG problem-area anyhow. Some touch-ups along the jaw and BBS in three with only minor stinging from the Alum. I'm already looking forward to next shave, where I will place the head in a diagonal position. O, "D.R.P. ang." basically means "patent pending", and I did not shave with the shown Polsilver because I can't shave with Polsilvers. Instead, I used a Voskhod.
Beautiful razor, completely unknown to me. Tempo, Golf....it seems that germans had something with these DE blade-loaded SE! Well, this Tempo is far more beautiful and elegant than the Golf....sons of their respective times I guess.
wchnu: If I liked him more I might actually feel bad about that.
