I'm loving this thing! I over honed my Rapide blade on my first attempt doing too many laps on the black and green hones which produced a overly aggressive edge. I was very close to getting razor burn off of this edge. I eliminated the green hone and went 10 laps on the black and 30 or so on the leather and the shave was excellent. I wanted to have one of these around to prolong the edges of my SE arsenal and do quick touch-ups when necessary.
Thanks for your reply. I am going through the honing process a Heljestrand on a coticule. Being completely new to honing I have to say its not been easy, but and learning and enjoying the process. One of these it probably a better solution. Enjoy.

I've been testing certain progressions and trying to figure out at what point I can hand off to the Allegro and I've had consistent success with setting the bevel on something 1K going to 4 or 5K then the Allegro.
I have been looking for one of these for some time and as rocketman says, they are not easy to come by. Thanks for the update.
I still keep watching on ebay and elsewhere but haven't seen one other than L Models for a long time. They must not have been that popular for single edge. I am thinking these came along later in the age of razor development so perhaps there was little call for them? Maybe too, folks using SE blades had more success re sharpening with hones and strops as the blade thickness was so superior that it was easier to do. So, an elaborate stropper mechanism was not that necessary?
wchnu: I would sue if they did not use a proper razor.

birdlives: They probably did that because they had a ninja shaver armed with an unmentionable contracted from B&B to make the shave....get your attorney to get full disclosure and video of the shave. If you were touched by a unmentionable, 'sic Fuzzy on them!!

RocketMan: My wife is a nurse at a local hospital and brought me home a razor they use for such fun - it is an UM style (unmentionable!) made of plastic and dull as a a Derby blade run over some sandpaper - maybe one of those was used???????
