You are not alone Fram I get 3 shaves from a Blue Star and 5 shaves from the GEM Stainless PTFE Coated, I have some Treet blades and I only use them twice and to be honest I am not really that keen on them at all, yes they are made in the same plant by the same company but they are certainly not the same blade or they are the same blade blank that has been subjected to a different or an additional process. This is reflected in the price, Treets are a lot cheaper!
I have tried the 3 facet carbon bulk blades that Ted Pella sells I found them very poor, worse than the Treet's.
To be shaving blades the carbon blades must have the word 'Super' on the packets and and no carbon shaving quality blades are packaged in 100 trays, they are all packaged either in packets of 5 with shelling paper on each blade or in plastic dispensers of 10, in both cases they are on a card for hanging on retail rails, they are then packed in a box of 120 or sold on the individual cards.
PAL also make a blued carbon blade in the 100 bulk trays and these too are stocked by Ted Pella, Emsdium and the other Lab. supply companies, these are IMHO awful to shave with. PAL blued carbon shaving blades are packaged the same as the Treets and the GEM Blue Stars and likewise have the word 'super' on the package.
It is not possible to buy PAL shaving quality blades in the UK from any US seller. One US shaving supplier sells PAL blades individually but they are from the bulk 100 trays and are not shaving quality, a uk supplier on e-bay does the same.
