Gosh! It's a nice brush! Visually appealing with a lightweight plastic tortoiseshell handle, good loft and soft tips. Both bowl and face lathering is very much like badger, little sling when face lathering. The black fibre is less dense than, say, a Muhle Silvertip Fibre or Purtech, but that in itself is its character. The fibres are black with some grey in there, changing appearance in the light.
It's a classy brush!
My only niggle is how light the handle is. It should be heavier. Picking it up, I expect it to be heavier. What I think I'll do is either settle a coin into the base, which is slightly recessed.
Version 2.0 black fibre. I get lost with the so-called generations, particularly now Omega and Vie-Long have jumped on in and appear to be using quite old tech for their knots.
My take on it is ...
This black fibre is akin to a sparse Kent knot. There is a sheen to the fibres in the light and a stiffness that is not present in Silvertip Fibre or Purtech. I still consider Silvertip Fibre and Purtech to be beyond this black fibre in terms of technology, but that does not diminish what a great brush this is in terms of looks and performance.
I have a couple of lovely vintage handles which I've re-knotted with quite old tech synthetic, like pre-Kent, but they're just lovely to use. Personally, I'd put Plisson back in that era, too, just more densely packed.
wchnu: If I liked him more I might actually feel bad about that.
