After my recent adventures using an Original Damaskeene Blade, which I did not Strop !! , have done a little bit of enquiry. In one Forum came across a device called a Scotts Ball Bearing Razor Blade Sharpener. This is alleged to be able to sharpen SE blades !
Has any one come across this device ? If so how does it work, and is it good for vintage blades.

Back in the day, when folks did sharpen their single edge blades there were all manner of things on the market which alleged to sharpen blades. Glass hones and glass marble devices were popular. Whether they worked is another matter. I don't know. I had a Lillicrap Uranium Glass Hone as a curiosity for a while, which I tried DE blades on with absolutely no success ... I did read that folks would rub their blades on the inside of a drinking glass, which gave much the same effect.
In the end, I think there is some magic in what leather strops do to shaving blades and there is some merit in using pasted strops, even newspaper, so long as you have some means of holding the blade at the correct angle.
If you were keen on maintaining vintage blades and perhaps pre-stropping new blades for a less fierce first couple of shaves, I would heartily recommend finding an Ever Ready stropping device and a thin strop. If you get a stropper, just fold up some newspaper to 1.5" wide, feed it through, trap in a drawer at one end, hold the other and strop away ...
But no, I don't know directly about the ball-bearing device. It's possible, but I think there were (a) a lot of devices marketed with nothing more than a placebo effect to back up their claims, and (b) there are already well established methods of maintaining a shaving blade with a leather strop.
