So you're the one the outbid me on that one. At least it went to a fellow TOST member.
The 1902 is a great Kampfe to start off with, as it can take modern SE blades, or if you're feeling energetic you can hone up one of those wedge blades, both of which appear to be in salvageable condition.
With my star blade, I hone it in the stropping handle with one layer of .007. It gets me at an ideal bevel angle. The steel is really nice stuff on those, they can be pushed to vicious levels. Lather catchers in general are the best safety razors ever. Just safe enough and no more, collect lather, really hard to clog.

The Maiden Voyage went extremely well, I shaved with the Vermont Slate finished blade and the results were excellent. This razor has excellent balance when you consider the size the blade holder. Next time around I going to push the blades further, I used a middle of the road progression so I can get acclimated to the razor. Good stuff.
It is nice to see such an old and unused piece all sorted and up and shaving. Great stuff. You can probably get a nice sharp blade with your gear. It will be nice to see how your stone choices impact the final edges on this Kampfe steel. Thnx for posting!
wchnu: If I liked him more I might actually feel bad about that.
