Here's some quick pics of the Kampfe Bros lather catcher I acquired recently. I don't know anything about dating this kind of razor, so any help would be appreciated. I've shaved with it a few times with a GEM stainless blade and it worked pretty nicely. My only slight complaint would be that because there isn't anything across the width of the blade, I could feel it flexing up a little, especially going ATG.
There's some brassing on the comb, but a lot of the yellow showing up in these photos is the weird yellow light bouncing around my kitchen.
I forget exactly which, but this model was either at the tail end of Kampfe's ownership ending in 1919, or what I seem to recall, the start up of a renewed push for Star models after the American Safety Razor co purchase of Kampfe/Star that year. So to have a wide margin, 1920 give or take a couple of years.
Someone with a better memory of this will come along and straighten us out I'm sure. : )

I agree with the esteemed RocketDood, probably from 1919. Does the case have slots for 7 blades? I have had two Star No.1 sets with that same razor and sold both, I really didn't enjoy using either one because they felt very "rattly" for lack of a better term, and the frame is just too large and bulky.
Rollin like a big wheel, and cuttin like a big knife.
The case is pretty small. There are 3 slots for holding the blades. I actually found it shaves pretty well. I was a little worried at first about the springs on the sides, but they seem to have enough force to keep a standard GEM blade steady.
I'd really like to try to get the wedges honed up, but I have zero experience with this sort of thing (and zero equipment). Is the handle attachment just for stropping, or could it be used for honing as well? It seems like it would probably create the wrong angle for the bevel. Honing by just pushing the wedges around freehand seems like a real pain! This will probably be a rainy day project.
FWIW, I'd love to have a spare Kampfe '13. Just a lovely shave. Used it today in fact. BTW, I never thought I'd write that about the Kampfe '13 (lovely shave). Not very long ago I thought it was almost unusable as far as being too aggressive. But for the past few months it's been a love affair.

Got a few more shaves in with this razor. I think you're right Brian, the whole frame flexes a little. I wasn't able to do the scything/j-hooking that I like to do on my neck to get really close. It just kept digging into my skin because the thing seems to twist just a bit as I try to sweep it. Maybe that's a clue that I'm using too much pressure for this maneuver with this razor. Other than it shaves pretty well. I keep a short beard and this thing is great for precision trimming!
